The most common type of sleep apnea syndrome is called the obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep apnea means "cessation of breath. "It is characterized by repetitive episodes of obstruction of upper airway that occur during sleep, generally associated with a decrease in oxygen saturation of blood. In other words, the airway becomes obstructed at several possible sites.
